Information Architecture Services

Seattle-based Cypress Consulting works with national customers to provide Information Architecture consulting on web sites and web applications. Information Architecture is typically comprised of a set of components, based on the project at hand. These components include: User-Task Matrix, Site Architecture (or SiteMap) and Storyboards.

Our information architects work with customers to understand the use cases of their sites and applications, and the hierarchy of the information to be presented to users. Every web site or web application has a specific user group, or groups, who are the core users. In addition, the web site or application has a specific business goal, or goals, it is meant to facilitate. Clearly understanding both the target users and the goals of the site allow Cypress to create a user-task matrix, one of the key components of Information Architecture. This ensures that above all else our customers' sites and applications fulfill their core business objectives.

For existing web sites and applications, we often start with Usability Analysis, in which we develop a user-task matrix if one doesn't exist and test target users to determine how well the site meets these goals.

For new projects, our information architecture team works with the customer to develop a Site Architecture, or SiteMap - a written or graphical depiction of the whole structure of the web site, or web application, and the relationships that exist between the sections.

In addition, for new projects our information architecture team will develop Storyboards. These are black and white line drawings which represent the content areas and functionalityContinue >
