Seattle Sonics Case Study

Challenge:

The Seattle Sonics drew the #2 draft pick for the 2007 NBA Draft. They wanted to capitalize on the media buzz around this opportunity by producing a flash movie that told a larger story about the Sonics organization. The flash movie would need to showcase the #2 draft pick opportunity, while highlighting several other exciting organizational changes. Cypress was tasked with producing a comprehensive, visually-engaging flash movie touching on a myriad of Sonics news and events in less than 1 minute to drive fan excitement for the upcoming season.

Cypress Solution:

Working closely with the Sonics Marketing team, Cypress first developed an overall script for the flash piece, covering the specific messages and key points to be covered. Working with this baseline we collaborated with the Sonics to gather high-impact visual assets, including video, photography, and audio tracks which all supported the overall theme of the piece. Cypress then produced a high-end flash movie, which was featured as an introduction to the Sonics website. The end product Cypress delivered was a visually rich, one-minute flash piece that weaved audio, video, bold text treatments and photographic assets into a compelling story about the Sonics organization. The movie supported a broad communication plan that highlighted the 2007 NBA Draft, new ownership, new leadership, and promoted a brand new era in the Sonics organization. The flash movie captured the spirit and excitement around positive changes in the Seattle Sonics and prompted viewers to "be part of it."
