When adidas wanted to integrate videos of sponsored athletes with their product catalog, they contacted Cypress. We created a sophisticated Flash application for playing videos that features related products and social media integration, while giving adidas powerful tools to easily organize and update the video portal and group videos according to which sport is in season.
adidas, an international apparel company, wanted to launch a video portal that tied viral videos of its sponsored athletes to associated products. adidas wanted this video library integrated with its product catalog, so that each video would pull up related products that a customer could purchase, such as shoes or apparel, linked to each sponsored athlete. adidas wanted to be able to group videos by sport and change the navigation, based on which sport was in season. The video portal also needed to enable social media channels and be available in a minimum of 18 languages for the initial launch, with more coming online thereafter. Finally, the site needed to be flexible, dynamic, and easy to update.
Cypress created a sophisticated Flash application for adidas to play video, link to related products, and tag videos so the content is easily searchable. Clicking on the tag for NBA star Dwight Howard, for example, pulls up all related videos featuring the professional basketball standout. The portal prominently features social media functionality, giving users the ability to embed a video on their Facebook page, for example, or send a video to a friend’s cell phone. To give adidas the ability to group videos and update the site aa needed, Cypress recommended and implemented thePlatform, a powerful video content management system. To support the complex video ingest process, Cypress also created a tool with a user-friendly interface to simplify the video-posting process for editors around the globe. The result is a flexible and dynamic video portal available in numerous languages with integrated social media tools that is easy for adidas to update and maintain, while enabling users to promote viral videos and associated adidas products across the Web.
