Solution:

Because video is essential to the site, Cypress first worked with CBS to create the enhanced video player. The team determined that by using thePlatform to develop an object-oriented code base, the core player functionality could live separate from its user interface. This made it easy to create a series of new players all with different user interfaces, or “skins,” to complement the many different television properties. A centralized code base simplified the integration of multiple third-party applications into the media player.

CBS now runs 15 different players on the new code base, and it is able to easily syndicate media player to third-party websites, each with CBS branding and advertising.

Equally important, CBS.com also provides new advertising opportunities plus Web 2.0 features that help build a strong sense of community with its audience.
