Channel One Livewire Case Study

to define the detailed requirements and specifications for the complete system – from media management to playlist, rating, and forward to a friend features.  Flash was identified not only as the most widely accepted platform for the delivery of digital video into the school system’s diverse computer landscape, but also as the perfect medium for the interactive interface the audience would use to browse and interact with the media content.

Cypress then designed and developed the full Flash Livewire video player, in-page Flash components for the ChannelOne web site, and the XML Web services and database that are needed to allow the MPS system to communicate with the interface elements.  Cypress also worked with the MPS to create a custom work flow and user guide for the ChannelOne content team so that they could easily manage the daily updates to the video and advertising content each day.

With Livewire as the crown jewel in their new web offering, Channel One is set to dramatically increase their already staggering newscast viewer-ship, which ranks it among the top new networks in the United States.  With daily current news broadcasts and special in-depth features now available online, their content and reach has now grown exponentially, as will their advertising and sponsorship opportunities.  Livewire is also deeply integrated with the new educational web site itself, with numerous cross-linking from onsite content and features to Livewire player.

Now, using LiveWire, students can get up to the minute content from the ChannelOne studio, build playlists, rate content, and send interesting content to each other. ChannelOne staff are able to use MPS to manage all video content via a browser-based interface.
