Case Study: CMS - Society of News Design
Challenge:
The Society of News Design (SND) was struggling to keep their news-driven website current. Updating the site required multiple steps, redundant entry of information and reliance on unstable code. In addition, the overall information architecture and design of the website made finding and using the information difficult for users.
Cypress Solution:
We worked in close collaboration with key members of the Society of News Design to implement a new web solution, central to which was a content management system that ties to their internal databases and allows users to efficiently publish up-to-the-minute information. Accessed through a password-protected web interface, the content management system allows SND staff to manage site content at any time, from anywhere with an Internet connection.
In addition, we worked with the Society of News Design to develop a new Information Architecture for the site. This process allowed us to structure the content the site makes available in a more intuitive and user-friendly way. With the new Information Architecture in hand, we then developed a new design for the site as well.
